The Carer:
A carer can be a wife, husband, parent, daughter, son, relative or friend who is able to provide the care, support and responsibility of the care needs for someone who is facing a life threatening illness or is dying.
Caring for someone who is facing cancer can be stressful and often your own life is put on hold. It is important to remember your own needs and be able to accept the support of others. At Bloomhill we care for the carers as we do for the person diagnosed with cancer, so remember you need not be alone. The help available to you at this time can help make sure you continue to have the strength you need to provide the greatest gift of love.
All Bloomhill services are available to carers and we also have a support group dedicated to carers each month. A twenty-four hour support phone service is also provided.
Research suggests that more than half of the clients with advanced disease are choosing to remain at home. This number is increasing with the education of the community, re the support services available to assist them. Bloomhill is dedicated to the support of our carers. |
