Cricks, IGA and Sunshine Coast Community help Bloomhill drive away!

The generous support of three renowned Sunshine Coast businesses has ensured that Bloomhill Cancer Care can continue to drive forward in style!

Thanks to IGA Wises Road; Garry Crick, Executive Director & Chairman of Autopact Pty Ltd, and Cricks Nambour, a brand new Bloomhill transport vehicle is now on the roads, ready to transport clients to and from the wellness-survivor centre in Buderim and to appointments throughout the region – predominantly return trips to Brisbane to attend medical appointments and oncology treatments.

Bloomhill CEO Chris Franck said the organisation was completely humbled by the support received for its vital Client Transport Service, with funding for the vehicle gathered largely from the IGA Wises Road myIGA card program.

Bloomhill Cancer Care was among the first local community groups approached to become a myIGA Card Program Beneficiary when IGA Marketplace Wises Road opened five years ago, and they continue to enjoy a close association with the store.

Through the program, myIGA Card members (Sunshine Coast Community) are rewarded instantly at the register with discounts on hundreds of different products across the store each week. As part of the registration process, members select a local community group to donate their shopping points to. Collectively these points accrue and are converted to funds for the beneficiary.

“Bloomhill Cancer Care has always enjoyed huge support from customers at IGA Marketplace Wises Road and it is through these accrued points that the funds have been raised to purchase this vehicle,” Mr Franck said.

“Bloomhill is so grateful for the great support the myIGA Card Program has generated amongst the community of the Sunshine Coast. We urge everyone to shop at IGA marketplace Wises Road and sign up for the free myIGA card and to nominate Bloomhill as their chosen charity!”

Garry Crick’s Sunshine Coast Group has been a long term partner for Bloomhill Cancer Care and also “came to the party” providing a generous deal on the purchase of the vehicle.

The new car can now be seen on the roads, providing comfort to valued clients and volunteers alike.

Bloomhill has exciting plans to replace its aged client transport vehicles, with sponsorship support from likeminded businesses committed to giving back to the Sunshine Coast community.

These plans form part of a larger social enterprise business model for the service - designed to break down barriers to accessing essential cancer treatment and support services and increase survivorship rates.

Thanks to IGA Wises Rd and Garry Crick’s team for their leadership in kick-starting this fantastic initiative.
