Bloomhill Cancer Care’s wellness survivor centre in Buderim is “hijacking” the entire month of June this year to raise awareness of its services and need for donations.

Always creative, the Ballinger Road facility is aiming to be in the public eye as much as possible – spreading the word about the great work that they do, the services they provide for people of all ages on the Sunshine Coast to live well with cancer, and the fantastic FUN events that they run. The month will be jam-packed with events and activities to suit everyone, a brief snap shot of which is provided below.

For the full list of event run by Bloomhill visit our events page here

Saturday June 1: 7am-12 noon Sunshine Coast Forest Market.

The first of these new monthly markets will be officially launched. Come and browse the artisan stalls for fresh fruit and veg, delicatessen items, grab a fresh coffee, check out the arts, crafts and designs. So much to see and all nestled in the forest setting in the gardens at the Bloomhill Wellness Centre. SHUTTLE SERVICE – a free shuttle service will run from the Lindsay Road shopping precinct in the centre of Buderim to and from the centre in Ballinger Road, to alleviate any parking issues.

Sunday June 2nd: International Cancer Survivors Day

This is an international event to raise awareness of cancer prevalence and the challenges of survivorship, the event is held on the first Sunday in June every year. Bloomhill CEO Chris Franck will be interviewed as part of the “Stories from the Red Couch” series and a radio and social media  awareness campaign will be launched. Since Bloomhill’s focus is on wellness and survivor support, the timing of this date in June is perfect acting as the catalyst for the launch of this month-long focus campaign.

Bloomhill will be featured on Stories from the Red Couch from 4 pm Sunday June 2 at: https://vimeo.com/storiesfromtheredcouch

Wednesday June 5th: Cancer Survivors’ Day Morning Tea

In honour of Cancer Survivors’ Day we will be hosting a morning tea at the Wellness Survivor Centre in Buderim for staff and clients. The morning tea will offer a delicious break amidst our cancer survivor workshop also held on this day – just one of the many educational activities we run to arm people with knowledge on how to live their best life with cancer.

If any business would like to donate items for this day, or sponsor morning tea costs, or make a cash donation to the cause, we would love to hear from you! Contact Nikki Firmin on 0419 776 226.

Saturday June 8: Glennfinnan Estate Open Day

Cube Developments, along with McGrath Estate Agents will be hosting an Open Day on June 8th at Cube’s latest land release, Glenfinnan Estate.

Bloomhill is humbled to be a regular recipient of support through McGrath Community Giveback program. For each home sold, their agents make a $250 contribution from their settlement which is matched by McGrath to pay forward to local charities. This is something done with every sale, with clients empowered to choose the beneficiary – so they are choosing something that is important to them. To date the program has donated over $150,000 to local charities. A fantastic achievement.

Cube Developments and McGrath Estate Agents will be presenting a cheque of $5,000 to Bloomhill for the land release, at their Glenfinnan Estate. CEO Chris Franck will be interviewed during a live radio broadcast at the event, so come on down and say hi. There will be face painting and fun for families, all welcome 9am to 12noon.  For further information on this community indicative, please contact McGrath Estate Agents Mooloolaba.

Thursday June 13 – Saturday June 22nd: “Hope and Peace from Within” art exhibition

Bloomhill proudly presents this stunning display of powerful and moving photographs of Bloomhill cancer survivors which has also been created as a beautiful coffee table keepsake book. Cancer survivor and Bloomhill client Joe Surace is a professional photographer who shot a series of images late last year. Each survivor shared their stories for the publication. We hope that by sharing these incredibly powerful pictures and stories, the Sunshine Coast community might embrace this fantastic opportunity to better understand the impact of cancer on a person’s life. We also thank Joe for donating his time to this project with all proceeds from the sales of Hope and Peace from Within going to Bloomhill.

The exhibition will be at the fabulous Old Ambulance Station in Nambour open free to the public from 10am-3pm Mondays to Saturdays. Exhibition details are on Eventbrite: https://bit.ly/2X5qP8i

Friday June 21: Be There for Bloomhill – Annual Giving Day

This is a brand new fundraising campaign introduced to the annual calendar!

BE THERE FOR BLOOMHILL invites everyone on the Sunshine Coast to be creative and inspired to host any kind of event, project, morning tea, or give-back program to donate to the Bloomhill Cause. With a focus on the “B” in “Be There” it’s time to get your thinking caps on and come up with your very own “B” event. It could be a Breakfast, a Brunch, a Barbecue, a Bake Sale, Baked goods (morning tea), Best dressed (a casual dress day at work or school where everyone makes a donation) or Be Benevolent (donate proceeds from items sold in a business). Guests at your events might pay an entry fee or donation, or you can have a donation tine on site, with all proceeds going to the wellness centre in Ballinger Road.

The confronting truth is that 1 in 2.4 people living on the Sunshine Coast will be touched by cancer by age 80. Be there for Bloomhill – so that we can be there for you and your loved ones when they need us most!
