Integrated Oncology Clinic

At Bloomhill we understand the importance of our clients’ relationship with their general practitioner (GP) and the important part they play in a person’s cancer experience, recovery and well-being.   The GP is likely to be the first health professional to guide a patient through their cancer diagnosis, and has an invaluable role in providing support, reassurance and surveillance throughout the treatment phase and beyond.   Often times the GP knows other members of the family as well, and as such can be a vital link in ensuring that carers and family members are supported and cared for as well.   As an integral part of the health care team, the GP also plays an important role in assessing and coordinating the patient’s community based care.  This involves providing referrals to allied health professionals who can assist the patient in a variety ways including counselling and psychology, nutrition and dietetics, exercise physiology, lymphoedema management and occupational therapy support.

Some GPs have a particular interest in oncology and be up-to-date with latest research and treatment protocols.  They can also communicate directly with your treating team to discuss concerns, changes in treatment or the need for ongoing surveillance.

Bloomhill’s General Practitioner, Dr Kasia Drzewiecki is available for Bloomhill clients to access, whether as a one-off appointment or
longer-term as an ongoing member of the treating team.  Dr Kasia has a special interest in oncology and has specific post-graduate training in integrative medicine and palliative care.   This places her in a unique position to offer care to Bloomhill clients across the whole experience of care.   Using an integrative oncology approach Dr Kasia provides individualised patient-centered care that is evidence informed and utilises and respects mind and body practices, natural products and / or lifestyle modifications alongside conventional cancer treatments.
