The incredibly talented Daniel Romaine has inspired us with the unique butterfly artwork that is being used right throughout our BE THERE FOR BLOOMHILL fundraising campaign.

The beautiful artwork has also been the catalyst behind our Buy a Butterfly for Bloomhill project. So not only can you enjoy Daniel's artwork on all of our promotional material, you can now also purchase a limited edition calico tote bag for just $10 with the colourful Butterfly proudly displayed on the front.

We are so very grateful to Daniel for donating his time to this project with all proceeds from the sales of these beautiful tote bags going directly to Bloomhill.

To provide some insight into how the collaborative project with Bloomhill came about, we put the following questions to Daniel, here are his answers:

What inspired you to be involved in the project?

I designed this artwork to support the wonderful work that Bloomhill does to support people who are fighting cancer.

As a person who is fighting cancer I can testify to the fact that you cannot prepare yourself for the impacts of cancer on you, your family and friends. I never thought it would happen to me and I certainly didn't expect to need support from Bloomhill. I would have been lost without the care and support of Bloomhill. Bloomhill's services have been essential to my cancer fight and is vital to so many people and their families.

  1. What is the story/meaning behind the artwork you have designed?

Cancer really does change your life and what you think is important. It is really hard to witness the effects on the people around you who love and care about you. In fact I have found myself more concerned for the people around me than my own wealth fare.  For me a cancer diagnosis was a real shock and certainly has given me many hours of deep reflection on what the meaning of life truly is. I have found that this process causes you to go very deep inside yourself like the cacoon of a butterfly and even though people with cancer are the same persons to their family and friends a change has occurred whereby the cancer diagnosis truly gives you wings that you never had before.

Cancer is horrible, it is really scary and yet it is liberating in that a change in life perspective has occurred within and with that change in perspective comes a strength and wisdom you never knew that you had. It is actually truly liberating and I now have wings to fly. Fighting cancer gives you a deep desire to live more than ever before.

The artwork is representative of people living with cancer and the wings we have now earned.

  1. Why should the Sunshine Coast community get behind Bloomhill on June 21?

It is important for us all to realise the shocking fact that 1 in 3 people will end up with cancer by the time we reach 80 years of age. That means that if it is not you it's your partner, your mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, grandparents or your children.

Cancer effects everyone, no matter race, religion or age.

Please support Bloomhill so that Bloomhill can support you or someone you know fight and live with this awful thing called cancer.

Buy a Butterfly for Bloomhill, be there for Bloomhill so that they can be there for you. Come on, be the best version of yourself by being generous with your support!

If you would like to support this fantastic initiative by buying a limited edition calico tote for just $10 - head on down to the Bloomhill Centre at 58 Ballinger Rd, Buderim or any of our 12 Op Shops located around the Sunshine Coast on June 21!
