We are very excited that National Volunteer Week 2021 (May 17-23) is upon us this week.

I don’t have to tell you, valued supporter, that without volunteers Bloomhill could not function. Our great organisation was made by the community, for the community – and our army of volunteers now numbers around 450.

Last year, COVID-19 restrictions meant our Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony could not go ahead. So this year’s festivities for National Volunteer Week 2021 are highly anticipated. We will hold a celebration at the wellness centre on May 20, and will visit all of our op-shops across the Sunshine Coast and Noosa.

We’re delighted to this month be launching a new publication for our volunteers, simply titled Thank You. It’s a volunteer news and wellness magazine, providing a platform for volunteers to share their stories and opinions, read about one another and the happenings at Bloomhill. In the first edition there will be information on the physical and mental health benefits of volunteering, tips on sustainable volunteering, stories about some of our volunteers, information about Bloomhill’s updated purpose – our ‘Why’, and more. Copies will be available at our much-anticipated National Volunteer Week celebration on May 20, and also at our op shops.

We hope this publication will provide another way for members of our volunteer community to connect with one another, and with others helping support those touched by cancer.  Please contact editor Nicky Moffat: [email protected] to contribute, suggest content, or if you would like a copy.
