Stream Financial has supported Bloomhill Cancer Care in so many ways and we wanted to give back to this local Buderim business.

Many people enjoy our grounds, so we felt it fitting to have a plaque acknowledging Stream Financial’s contribution laid in the gardens by the café.

Principal Tim van Doore has personally experienced the challenges a cancer diagnosis can bring.

At the age of 31 his life changed dramatically and swiftly. Within days of diagnosis, Tim was in surgery, followed the next week with chemotherapy.

At this stage Tim and the team were aware of Bloomhill but hadn’t quite realised the extent of services provided. But this was all about to change and for that we are thankful.

Stream extended an olive branch to Bloomhill clients by offering a free consultation. In the past six months approximately 15 people have taken up this generous offer and they’re now better informed of how they might improve their financial circumstance, especially during difficult times.

Client Services Manager for the company, Janis Glassop explains. “The consultation usually surrounds financial situations. Sometimes it’s a matter of identifying a path for someone to take where they can either supplement income or look to making a claim against existing insurance policies or superannuation accountsOn occasions people have multiple accounts.

“We provide financial literacy and information for Bloomhill clients and their family. This entails sitting down and talking to start with.

“We’ll look at the situation where someone may have potential policies or superannuation. From there we can investigate policies or super to determine whether that’s an avenue to investigate. Discovering what we have available to work with, is a starting point.

Some people have already made a claim. One lady wanted to ensure that the financial stressors were alleviated from her family in the event of her passingThis included the wills and paperwork in place were in order. She even organised her funeral. This equated to a minimum of fuss for her family by taking pressure off the family when already dealing with an emotive situation. It’s a good idea.

Stream Financial’s contributions haven't stopped there. Last year, this well-regarded financial solutions team helped promote and fundraise for our “Be There for Bloomhill’ campaign in June, and then, initiated the fabulous Bloomhill Family Fun Day in September.

Client Services Manager Janis Glassop put her hand up as event co-ordinator and worked tirelessly with the Stream Financial team and Bloomhill staff in ensuring the success of the event which raised an amazing $4,641 for our Carer and Family Support Fund.

The gathering to celebrate the laying of the plaque was a light hearted affair and they enjoyed a bit of a lark with our photographer for the day, Director of Advancement, Sarah Wetton.
