Christmas 2019 and New Year 2020.  It sounds so …old, yet so impressively futuristic. And, we are all here to celebrate that dichotomy. What a privilege!

I invite you to celebrate a momentous year for Bloomhill Cancer Care. Twenty-two years ago, our Founder Ms. Margie Gargan believed in her vision, and here we are today – an organisation with 10 Board Directors, almost 50 members of staff and over 450 volunteers.

2019 was a VERY BIG year for all of us here at Bloomhill.

In the past financial year, we welcomed over 1200 clients at the Wellness Centre - providing over 11 thousand occasions of nursing and allied health care. Over the past eight years we have welcomed 7,120 clients - which includes patients, carers, children and bereaved family and friends.

All of this is made possible thanks to you.

We are continually humbled by everyone’s commitment to helping us to provide the very best cancer care and support to our community. To our staff, our volunteers, our donors, our sponsors and our advocates – we thank you.

The growth in demand for our services has increased markedly in recent years – approximately 35% annually - and there are no signs of this changing for years to come. Thus, the importance of planning now for the future remains our priority moving forward.

Well, 2019 certainly was a tumultuous year. Despite what the various challenges faced, and the dreaded R word (recession), we’ve made it through to the end of the year in good shape.

We have welcomed many new faces to our Bloomhill Family, we have also said goodbye to some fantastic people seeking their next challenge. You shall forever be in our hearts and we value your contribution to our community.

It's nearly Christmas and we've got so much to be grateful for. We are here, we are a great family and we're in business!

It's been a tough year but I'm proud of what we accomplished together. Some businesses haven't been able to do what we have done. Thanks to you we'll be going into the New Year with strength, to build on our accomplishments and to consolidate our position and service to our community.

Let's celebrate that. It's a gift to be grateful for.

As Burton Hillis said, "The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree is the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other."

And that's what I wish for you all!

We hope you will continue to join forces with us - now and into the future - to make a real difference in the lives of people facing a diagnosis of cancer.

I proudly invite you all to contribute to our Christmas Appeal over this festive season so that Bloomhill can continue to do what we do best – and be there for you, your loved ones, your staff and your community when you need us most.

With high regard
