It's October!
Where has this year gone?
We are smack bang in the middle of Bloomhill’s peak event season, and we know how hectic that is!

So, let’s launch right into a huge thank you to Stream Financial in Buderim for creating and directing our first ever Bloomhill Family Fun Day! The weather shone bright on Saturday September 21 as hundreds of grandparents, parents and children descended upon our Bloomhill gardens for a spectacular day of family fun and entertainment.

It was such a delight to see so many happy smiling faces with face painting, jumping castles, aerial acrobatics, petting zoos, and a bake off that would make my mum proud! The story behind Stream Financial's connection with Bloomhill is a relatively new one, but also a very meaningful one for us and Stream's Principal and cancer survivor, Tim van Doore, and his team. I encourage you to read the write up of the Family Fun Day which was a huge success raising $4,641. Thank you to the generosity of all the stall holders, sponsors and exhibitors who contributed to this success.

I am always in awe of the incredible support we receive from local businesses and community groups who join our Community Give Back program by choosing Bloomhill as their giving destination. Not only do the fantastic teams behind these businesses help raise awareness and much needed funds for our cause, they also create opportunity for a dialogue around cancer prevalence and the different evidence-based models of care for cancer care and support currently available to those in need.

Our Community Give Back Program benefits are many and varied – and I am proud to say these benefits do not flow solely our way. Undoubtedly, the program provides much needed cash flow to support our services and priority needs – either by direct donations or in-kind goods and services - enabling us to redirect cash flow where it is needed most. A perfect example of the latter is the amazing new office our community built, affectionately know as the BAT Cave, which has been constructed and fit out through the united vision and generosity of our fabulous business supporters! The office has been in planning for over 2 years to make space for a much needed Integrated Oncology Clinic, but couldn't be realised due to budgeting constraints. I am proud to say the office is now complete and work on the clinic has commenced. A huge thank you to all involved!

Of course, the Community Give Back program also plays a broader more purposeful role within the community. It allows us to connect with, get to know, and better support our local community by listening to why Bloomhill is so meaningful to them. The program also provides a vehicle for our community to support a cause that instills a sense of pride and passion in working together as a community to create a real impact on the lives of others. Further, by helping us better understand where and how we as a charity can plan for the future needs of cancer care and support, we can better connect and educate staff, family and friends about our services should our business community need help too. We cherish these relationships and look forward to building stronger, longer-term partnerships with more businesses across the Sunshine Coast in years to come.

One such long-term partnership is the fantastic ongoing support we receive from Loren Wimhurst and her team at Next Property Group for our Bloomhill Cancer Care Charity Auction. First launched in 2015 by Loren who is also a cancer survivor, the auction has grown to be one of our signature must-attend events. Now this fantastic annual fundraiser is under the Bloomhill banner and yet each year the incredible team at Next Property still jump on board and support our Bloomhill fundraising and events personnel to secure a plethora of incredible raffle and auction prizes to knock your socks off. There are quality items to bid for, right across the board and all raising money for an excellent cause.

This year we have seen a large donation pool with around $100,000 worth of prizes up for grabs on Friday October 11, 6.30 pm at the Maroochy RSL. And that doesn’t even include the Mercedes-Benz A180 hatch raffle prize which will also be drawn on the night! Entry is FREE so be sure to save the date in your calendar and head across to our website and register to come along. All registered attendees will receive important pre-auction information – click here to sign up directly.

Another long term supporter of Bloomhill are the fabulous crew at Girl Torque who are revving their engines for the annual Bras ‘n Bikes charity ride on Sunday October 20. An avid two wheel motorist myself, this event is definitely worth the effort to attend if you have 2 wheels and/or a pillion to join you. The ride starts and finishes at the Yandina Bowls Club, with food, drinks and laughs aplenty. Pink is the dress up code for this fabulous fun event in recognition of October being national breast cancer awareness month. So jump on board and get into the spirit of it all by getting your pink on and buying a bra to decorate and wear it with pride on the outside of your clothes.

Need a hand to get fashion-ready for any of these events? Then get yourself down to your local Bloomhill Op Shop and find something to stand out from the crowd. It's National Op Shop Week and our fabulous store managers and volunteers are at the ready to help you with all your fashion and furnishing needs. Have you visited one of our Op Shops yet? Beerwah, Brightwater, Buderim, Caloundra, Cooroy, Kunda Park, Maleny Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Nambour and Tewantin. Head to your nearest store, check their addresses and opening times HERE

Enough from me! Please enjoy this edition of Bloomhill e-news.

Your sincerely,

Chris Franck
