A note from newly appointed CEO, Christopher John

I am delighted to be joining you as your Chief Executive this December. As part of my welcome note, I thought I would share a little about myself so that you can get to know me a little.

I am passionate about communities and organisations that strive to assist those among and around us. Together, these organisations say a lot about us as people – they demonstrate what we value and strive for.

For me, this is a true representation of Bloomhill. Like all community organisations, it started with a small group of dedicated individuals that rose to address a need in our community. Today, as you know, Bloomhill provides significant and meaning support to those individuals and families impacted by cancer.

I wish to start by saying thank you – this is often something we don’t say enough. Your contribution is part of the representation of what we collectively value and who we are. I am certain the lives of those you come in contact with are better off because of your contributions.

As we come into Christmas and holidays, I know that this time of year is also a mixed time for many of us. For some it is a celebration for healing, survival or just additional time with those we love. For others it is a time of grieving for those that have passed this year, or years prior. I just want to say you and your families are in the thoughts of the Bloomhill community, the Board and I.

I bring an existing appreciation of Bloomhill through my contact with the organisation when Ms Mervat Quirke was your CEO. I also bring 14 years’ experience in Chief Executive roles in the non-profit sector across Tasmania, the Sunshine Coast, Melbourne and nationally. I am often described as passionate and dedicated to the cause. For those that would like to see some detail about my background, or would like to connect virtually, please feel free to visit my LinkedIn profile at www.linkedin.com/in/christopherjohn73. I would love to get to know a little more about each of you also.

I will be joining the Bloomhill community on Monday the 14th of December and look forward to working with Nicky and meeting each of you due course. In the meantime, I am moving back to the Sunshine Coast, from Melbourne, a small excitement for my partner and I also!

Until we meet in person, stay safe and connected.

Regards

Christopher John
