Bloomhill Transport Service

Bloomhill Transport Service Information

Bloomhill’s volunteer Transport Service is a very valuable part of the range of services offered by Bloomhill Cancer Care.

Transport assistance is available as follows:

  • for Clients - to medical appointments and to access Bloomhill Cancer Care services at Ballinger Road, Buderim
  • for Carers – to access Bloomhill services at Ballinger Road, Buderim

Each transport request is considered important and is prioritised accordingly. Our professional team of paid staff (who administer the service) and volunteers (who provide the transport and assist in administration) take all care to ensure that we provide appropriate support as per your request.

The Transport Services are continuously in high demand and receive an extraordinarily large number of requests each week. In order for us to continue to provide a high level of service and meet these high volume needs, a number of policies and procedures have been put into place, with which we would appreciate your cooperation.

Notice required

While every effort will be made to assist with your transport needs, we are dependent on the availability of vehicles and volunteer drivers, and thus the following notice period applies:

  • Minimum – 2 working days. When requesting transport with Bloomhill Cancer Help, please contact the Volunteer Services Office at least 2 working days before your appointment.
  • Maximum - 3 weeks in advance. We are only able to take bookings a maximum of three weeks in advance.

Please note that if you are not able to give sufficient notice, we may not be able to assist with your request.

Before you call to book

To book transport, you will need to provide the Volunteer Services Office with the following details:

  • Your name and status eg. client, carer etc
  • Date of your appointment
  • Location of the appointment
  • Location of pick up and drop off
  • Type of appointment and expected length of appointment
  • Details of passengers eg. if you will be accompanied to the appointment by a spouse or carer
  • Special needs eg. wheelchair, walking aid, extra luggage etc

We would ask that prior to placing a request with the Volunteer Services Office that you confirm your appointment, as we have limited capacity to accommodate any changes to pre-arranged bookings.

The driver has the right to refuse transport if there is a reasonable concerns that the transport service cannot be provided safely eg. under the influence of recreational drugs or alcohol, insufficient mobility, aggressive, abusive or uncooperative behaviour, current weather warning that would make driving unsafe.

Contact

If you would like to make an inquiry about our Client Transport Service, please do not hesitate to contact the Volunteer Services Office on ph: 5445 5794. The Volunteer Services Office hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
